Course Reviews

Qualitative reviews from "Computers and Music" course (MUSC200), Brown University.

  • “Talented guy.”
  • “Seth was very knowledgeable in various softwares used to edit, such as Logic and Max. It was a pleasure to learn from him because he had a lot of experience in the field. He was also available for a variety of questions outside of the Logic project and responded promptly to emails. He gave me very good constructive criticism about my own music compositions and he is truly a pleasure to learn from.”
  • “Really insightful. Provided good commentary on projects at lab.”
  • “Seth was great. His willingness to help and his kind attitude made learning the technical aspects of the class fun, exciting, and relatively painless.”
  • “Great TA!”
  • “Seth always had great feedback about my electronic music pieces.”
  • “I enjoyed the lectures that he gave. Truly loved his music that he produces and seems like a very knowledgeable guy on computer music.”
  • “Lecture was informative and interesting. Made interesting connections between musical styles and philosophical concepts influencing them. Good speaker.”
  • “Seth was a fantastic TA. He was approachable and very knowledgeable about the subject matter and the topics that were presented in section. He was approachable and kind; working with students individually who wished to learn more about the subject. The laboratory sections were helpful, however, not many students attended the sections even though they were a highlight of the course.”
  • “Little interaction with Seth - what time I did have was incredibly interesting and engaging. He knows his stuff and does a great job of relaying the information. Heard some of his talks in his lab - he really knows Logic and its quirks.”
  • “Even though he wasn’t my TA, I learned a lot from Seth.”
  • “Very knowledgeable and encouraging, did a good job connecting with students.”
  • “Seth was an awesome TA! In lab sections, he really emphasized his view that making a song as a journey that starts with discovering what kinds of new sounds you can make with the minimal materials that you have, and then arranging them in a way that makes them (more) coherent, which really rubbed off on me. Great introduction to music production and synthesizers by him, which I really appreciated, and I’ll go into the multimedia lab every so often to play around with synths and stuff and make music. (Before I took this class, I knew basically nothing about music production; and having taken this class, I learned enough to make some pretty interesting sounds and songs!)”
  • “He was very helpful as a TA and always willing to help during class. His lectures were interesting as well.”
  • “Cool dood.”
  • “Awesome, passionate TA.”
  • “Very knowledgeable and passionate about his personal projects.”
  • “Great instructor. Teaches you the technique, but most importantly how to use them to get certain desired effects. Pushes students to experiment and try to develop their sounds. Gives great feedback.”
  • “Seth was the most effective TA. He speaks clearly and explains things well. He also makes time for students outside of section if we had any further questions.”
  • “I enjoyed his lecture as well as appreciated his availability.”
